Look Further and Walk Farther

It was Sunday morning, and I was rushing out of the gate and into the cab. I had left later than usual, but it was a blessing to find a car at a lower rate.

As I settled into the back seat, I began praying in tongues under my breath. The ride went smoothly, and while looking out the window, I saw a vision.

A boy stood upon a hill, gazing toward the ocean and the distant horizon. Jesus was beside him, with one hand resting upon the boy’s shoulder and the other pointing toward the sky. Then, a rainbow appeared.

When I arrived at church, Filipino doughnuts and coffee were being served. People slowly trickled in, the lights dimmed, and the worship music began.

As I closed my eyes during worship, I saw the vision again. This time, the sun was shining in the sky, and Jesus was pointing toward it.

Then I heard in my spirit:

“Look further and walk farther.”

The worship continued, and the song Build My Life caught my attention—particularly the invitation, “Open up my eyes in wonder,” and the prayer for God to reveal Himself, fill us with His heart, and lead us in His love.

I believe that in this season, the Heavenly Father is reminding us to look up.

Look up and remember His covenant promises, represented by the rainbow.

Look up and see the Son—Jesus Christ.

Look up and behold the new dawn that is coming.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. What we see before us is not the end of the story. The Father is inviting us to look beyond our present circumstances, fix our eyes upon Jesus, and continue walking with Him.

Psalm 121:1–2 AMP says:

I will lift up my eyes to the hills [of Jerusalem]—

From where shall my help come?

My help comes from the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth.
