Dark Horse, You Will Finish Strong

It was Sunday morning, and I was commuting to church. These commutes are some of the moments I look forward to because I can spend time praying in tongues. Something about watching the cityscape pass by helps me pray in the Spirit.

As I was praying, watching the view, and listening to pop music in the background, I saw a black horse running. Behind him were white horses.

Immediately, the words dark horse came to mind.

A dark horse can be:

An unexpected winner: A person or team that surprisingly wins or succeeds when no one thought they could.

A secret talent: Someone who keeps their abilities hidden until they surprise everyone.

As I continued looking at the image and focused on the black horse, I noticed something. It was as if a transparent horse was running in front of the dark horse.

Immediately, this came to mind:

“I am the God who goes before you.”

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

When I arrived at church and worship began, they were singing songs I had never heard before. I tend to listen to songs on repeat, so I do not know a lot of worship songs. But these lines spoke to me:

Feel the weight off your shoulders.

Then I remembered the dark horse running free.

As the worship continued, I saw an image of a child standing on a stool in front of a mirror. The Father was placing a green robe over him. It looked similar to the robe illustrated in the book The Little Traveler and the Father’s Heart.

I believe the Heavenly Father wants to remove the heavy yokes from our shoulders—the names we carry that are not ours and the burdens we were never meant to hold. He wants to replace them with His comfort, His yoke, and His robe of righteousness.

Jesus invites us:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”

We have been set free by His Son, Jesus, and we are unquestionably free.

“So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free.”

—John 8:36 AMP

As we begin to release these false names, heavy yokes, and burdens to the Heavenly Father, we will run and not stumble. This led me to the verses I was reminded of as I continued reflecting on the vision.

Run and Do Not Stumble

“When you walk, your steps will not be impeded [for your path will be clear and open];
And when you run, you will not stumble.
Take hold of instruction; [actively seek it, grip it firmly and] do not let go.
Guard her, for she is your life.”

The Passion Translation says:

“Your progress will have no limits when you come along with me, and you will never stumble as you walk along the way. So receive my correction no matter how hard it is to swallow, for wisdom will snap you back into place—her words will be invigorating life to you.”

I believe the Heavenly Father is releasing His dark horses in this hour.

They will run, and they will not stumble.

They will run free because they are free indeed.

So take a step.

Walk.

Then run.

This is a season in which His Spirit is moving and making a way where there seems to be no way. It is a time when you will run farther than you ever thought possible—not by your own strength, but by His Spirit.

“Then he said to me, ‘This [continuous supply of oil] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel, saying, “Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of whom the oil is a symbol],” says the Lord of hosts.’”
